Dr. M. S. Shingare is a Professor of Organic Chemistry and former Head of Deptt. of Chemistry and Deptt. of Chemical Technology. He is a fellow of Royal society of chemistry (UK), Maharashtra academy of sciences and member of National academy of sciences. He has remained senate member of the University for two times.

He has 33 years of teaching and research experience with a strong record of scientific achievements which reflects his major contributions to the field of synthetic organic chemistry and green chemistry.

Dr. M. S. Shingare has been exceedingly productive and his research work has contributed to more than 110 national and about 145 international journals of well repute, including Green Chemistry, Tetrahedron Letters, Catalysis Communications, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Molecular Catalysis, Analyst, and so many. These publications imitate his outstanding research in the area of chemical sciences.

His research work is mainly aimed towards the environmentally benign processes like, use of aqueous medium, solvent-free reactions, reactions at room temperature, use of homogeneous as well as heterogeneous catalyst, etc. Particularly, he has developed several innovative methodologies for Knoevenagel and Biginelli reactions. Additionally, various novel synthetic methodologies for the construction of bioactive heterocyclic moieties are on his credit. Moreover, palladium catalyzed Suzuki coupling and Heck reaction using aqueous medium and phase transfer catalyzed one-pot techniques has also been developed by him.

Dr. M. S. Shingare has successfully completed three major projects funded by DST and UGC. He also acts as reviewer for research articles to be published in esteemed international and national journals. Due to the novel and leading contributions to the field of chemical sciences Dr. M. S. Shingare has been honored by many awards, like award by Home ministry, Govt. of India for his contribution towards validation of some forensic materials and an Ideal teacher award by the Govt. of Maharashtra for the year 2009-2010.
